Build the Scene
With Mini-Designs, a café becomes a small, buildable setting. Children can move the figures, invent a story, and decide what happens next.
Mini-Talks connects physical play, digital exploration, and community support to create more room for communication for children with selective mutism.

The starting point
Children bring imagination, interests, preferences, and their own ways of connecting with the world. Mini-Talks builds on these strengths.
Through familiar scenes, personalized Minis, and their own recorded voices, children can explore different ways of expressing themselves—at their own pace.
A child can build a place, choose a character, listen, make a sound, record a word, or simply join the play.
The Mini-Talks system
Three connected experiences bring play, personal expression, and understanding together.
Physical play. Build social scenes, explore interactions through figures, and make recorded voices part of something children can touch, see, and control.
Digital exploration. Choose a setting, personalize a Mini, and explore sounds, words, sentences, and dialogue through listening, recording, and animated playback.
People and places. Connect with families, volunteers, professionals, and everyday places that welcome different ways of participating and communicating.
These experiences can be explored independently or together. There is no single route through Mini-Talks.
See the connection
Think of a café.
With Mini-Designs, a café becomes a small, buildable setting. Children can move the figures, invent a story, and decide what happens next.
In Studio, a café becomes a digital scene. A child can choose their characters, listen to a demo, and hear their own recording played back through their Mini.
At a Talk-Spot, a café becomes an everyday place where observing, playing, pointing, or speaking are welcome ways to participate.
Illustrative café setting.A real Talk-Spot can inspire both a Mini-Design and a Studio scene. A child’s own Mini can become a familiar connection between them.

Four complementary parts bring physical scenes, personal representations, and recorded voices together.
LEGO®-based designs turn classrooms, cafés, and supermarkets into physical settings for storytelling and shared play. Explore them on their own or combine them with Design-Talks.
Explore Mini-Designs →A physical system recognizes the scene and provides controls for listening, recording, and replaying. Depending on the version, communication can be organized by scene, level, and Mini role.
Explore Design-Talks →Children choose a personalized character, record their voice, and watch the character come to life through animation on the device’s screen.
Explore Brick-Talks →A personalized physical figure gives children a familiar representation through which they can record and replay their own voice.
Explore Fig-Talks →YOUR SCENE. YOUR MINI. YOUR VOICE.
Mini-Talks Studio & App
Choose a scene. Create a Mini. Decide what to explore.
Studio & App brings everyday settings and personalized characters into a digital experience. Children can listen to examples, record their own voices, and replay them with character animation.
Four levels offer different starting points. Children can return to familiar interactions and try different ones when they feel ready.
Parents can manage child profiles and approve connections with professionals. The digital experience also includes ways to view participation and use over time.
Explore Studio & App →Mini-Community
Mini-Community grew from our family’s need to connect with people who understood the experience—and from seeing how much everyday people and places could matter.
Families and adults with lived experience can share, listen, find resources, and feel less alone.
People contribute time, creativity, practical skills, and support for inclusive activities and shared play.
Professionals contribute general knowledge, perspectives, and feedback while respecting each child’s existing support team.
Everyday places welcome different ways of participating. Speaking is never a condition for being included.
Mini-Community supports connection and awareness. It does not replace a child’s individual professional support.

Books, research, videos, and resources gathered through our family’s search for understanding. The children’s book corner has a personal connection: my sister now reads stories in her own voice for children navigating similar experiences.
Explore Mini-Library →Volunteer workshops, family gatherings, expert sessions, and community activities offer different ways to play, learn, and connect.
Explore Mini-Events →An approved-member space for questions, ideas, and shared experiences—using nicknames and respecting each person’s boundaries.
Explore Mini-Forum →Personal accounts make everyday experiences visible, including moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
Explore Real Stories →This is Mini-Talks.
A place to build. A character to make their own. A voice to record and hear again. People who welcome different ways of taking part.
Mini-Talks brings these possibilities together—through physical play, digital exploration, and everyday connection.
Children can begin with what feels familiar, follow what interests them, and participate in their own way.
